Privacy Policy
Effective June 10, 2026
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how MOVE Business Chamber (“MOVE,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our representative-finder tool to look up your Virginia state legislators and join your district's community group (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
When you use the Service, we collect the information you provide directly:
- Contact details — your first and last name, email address, and phone number.
- Home address — the street address you enter so we can identify the legislative districts you live in.
We also derive and store information based on the address you provide:
- Location data — your city, state, ZIP code, and approximate geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude).
- District & representative data — your Virginia Senate, House of Delegates, and congressional districts, and the legislators who represent them.
- Engagement data — whether and when you clicked through to join your district's WhatsApp group.
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 16, and the Service is not directed to children.
How We Use Your Information
- To look up and show you your Virginia state and congressional representatives.
- To email you a copy of your representative results and a link to your district group.
- To connect you with your district's community (WhatsApp) group.
- To support MOVE's civic engagement, organizing, and outreach efforts.
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service, including preventing spam and abuse.
Service Providers We Share Data With
We do not sell your personal information. We share the minimum necessary information with trusted service providers that help us operate the Service:
- U.S. Census Bureau Geocoder — receives your address to determine your legislative districts.
- Google Maps Platform — powers address autocomplete as you type.
- Resend — delivers the results email to you.
- Neon & Cloudflare — host our database and application infrastructure.
- WhatsApp / Meta — hosts the district community groups you choose to join. Your use of WhatsApp is governed by Meta's own privacy policy.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of our operations.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as needed to provide the Service and support MOVE's civic engagement activities, unless a longer retention period is required by law. You may ask us to delete your information at any time (see below).
Your Choices & Rights
- Access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you.
- Opt out of further communications from MOVE.
- Leave a district WhatsApp group at any time directly within WhatsApp.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@movechamber.org. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Effective” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
